Spending the night on Table Mountain is something different to do when you next visit Cape Town
The Overseers Cottage is found on the Back of Table Mountain at the top of The Constantia Nek jeeptrack. Beautifully positioned it is well kitted out with large braai area, comfortable beds, hot showers and the National Parks will even transport your food and drinks up the mountain for you so there is no need to go hungry.
You don’t even have to be super fit to get up there. Accessible by the jeep track anyone of moderate fitness can reach the cottage in less than 2 hours. Once there you can spend the afternoon exploring the Back Table. Although not quite as flat as may be imagined, once at the cottage you can explore the reservoirs and museum without too much more effort.
Returning to the cottage you can enjoy a drink whilst the sun goes down and get ready for a wonderful braai as night sets in.

The next day an early start is well worth it, as you see the most beautiful sunrise to the East. Just wrap up warm and grab a cup of coffee and a rusk.

Following breakfast there are then a number of routes you can choose from. Along Smuts Track and down Platteklip Gorge into the city is a tough favourite, or you can be back in Kirstenbosch Gardens in 2 hours down a number of different routes.
