Hike from Camps Bay to Kirstenbosch

Today we decided to hike from Camps Bay to Kirstenbosch Garden across the back of Table Mountain. This would allow us to  see the different vegetation on the 2 sides as well as enjoy the museum and reservoirs on the back Table.

We began the hike on the Pipe Track at Kloof Nek. Nothing can prepare the uninitiated for the views  of Camps Bay, the 12 apostles and Camp Bay from this path. From here we headed up Kasteelspoort. One of my favourite routes. Although steep it does quite a traverse to the South and there is a perfect rest spot half way up.

From the top of Kasteelspoort we followed the old railway line through to the centre of the mountain to the reservoirs. Circling the Woodhead reservoir we visited the waterworks museum before following the nursery path through to the Eastern side of the mountain. Now completely different views astound us.
