Hiking up Lions Head
Lions Head is the small sugar loaf peak alongside Table Mountain. Often called the “best value for energy hike in the Cape” From its peak the views are magnificent. and are 360′ unlike Table Mountain where you have to move from one side of the plateau to the other to see all the different views. The hike is also fun with some minor scrambling and some ladders to negotiate.
With all the above it is hardly surprising that the trail is usually pretty busy with many Capetonians making the trek regularly and even daily. A fit person can easily be up and down in two hours and still have had time to enjoy the views.
Both sunrise and sunset are popular times for this hike.
Here are some shots from sunrise today.
After having enjoyed the sunrise we took a bit of a detour on the way down. Wallys cave is found on the South face of Lions Head and overlooks the 12 Apostles. Not difficult to get to, photos from here are always a treat.
